LPD6803 Pixel Protocol

A clocked, individually addressable RGB LED pixel protocol with a separate IC in SOP16 package, offering 5-bit color resolution and fast refresh rates.

Overview

LPD6803 uses a two-wire (data and clock) interface, supporting 5V–12V operation and 1000Hz PWM for smooth animations and camera-friendly performance up to 34fps. Its clocked design allows for longer cable runs and stable data transmission, though color depth is limited to 32 levels per channel, resulting in less smooth fades.
